Supporters of Rock Around the Blockade held protests across the country this week in solidarity with Cuba and Palestine, marking the anniversary of the 26th July Moncada attack.
The activists emphasised the connection between the anti imperialist struggles in Cuba and Palestine, and the attacks that both of these causes face from countries like Britain and their institutions.
Here is a roundup of actions from around the country:
London
Supporters in London attended and held several events throughout the day, beginning with a celebration of Moncada and the Cuban revolution outside the Cuban embassy in Holborn:
Then a march to HSBC, a British bank which illegally complies with the US blockade of Cuba and aids the Israeli occupation of Palestine:
Then finally they joined Trans+Pride in London, highlighting Cuba's immense progress on LGBT rights and trans healthcare:
Brighton
Supporters in Brighton provided this video of their action on the day: "We picketed the Brighton branch of Barlcays to call them out for their role in enabling the onslaught of the Palestinian people by bankrolling British arms manufacturers. We also marked the anniversary of the Moncada barracks attack and to call out Barclays and other British banks for their role in illegally implementing the US blockade of Cuba on an extraterritorial basis"
Newcastle
Newcastle supporters also joined their local pride parade and picketed outside a British bank, this time Barclays, which is complicit with the same aforementioned crimes as HSBC.
Birmingham
Birmingham supporters held a picket outside Lloyds bank:
Liverpool
Liverpool supporters held a street stall highlighting Cuba's progress on LGBT rights and the struggle against the US blockade:
For 62 years this revolution has been under attack from the US in the form of a genocidal blockade: Cuba is unable to trade with other states to access fuel, food, medicines, and equipment they need to survive. British banks comply with this blockade by blocking transactions related to Cuba, despite this being against national law.
Palestine has been occupied for over 75 years by Israel, backed by the major imperialist powers. British banks prop up and profit from the occupation by investing in the arms trade and in Israeli business deals with Britain.
Palestine and Cuba both fight for self determination, as two revolutionary struggles against a common enemy - imperialism.
Join the fight back by connecting anti-imperialist struggles around the world, and directing our fight towards the British state and its institutions.
BRITISH BANKS, YOU CAN'T HIDE - WE CHARGE YOU WITH GENOCIDE!
