Speaking tour
Manchester / Liverpool / Nottingham / London
Cuba has a world-leading record in sustainable development; improving lives within the carrying capacity of its ecosystem. The socialist state switched to organic agriculture and urban farming in the 1990s and now has a 100-year plan to protect the natural environment and population from climate change, while working to increase the use of renewable energies. Professor Reinaldo Funes Monzote, a Cuban environmental historian, will be in Britain to explain how the Revolution has addressed the environmental damage to the island from centuries of colonial rule and imperialist domination and the challenges under the socialist system.
The talks are hosted by Rock around the Blockade, a campaign set up by the Revolutionary Communist Group, to defend socialist Cuba.
